Nabi apologises to Chiefs fans after crushing SuperSport defeat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has issued an apology to the club’s faithful following a devastating defeat at the hands of SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership

The heavy 4-1 loss at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night left fans reeling, prompted Nabi to address the disappointment directly. The defeat was Chiefs’ heaviest in the Betway Premiership this season.

CHIEFS FATIGUE BLAMED FOR SUPERSPORT LOSS

Coach Nabi cited fatigue as the reason for Chiefs’ loss to SuperSport, coming just days after their Nedbank Cup clash with Chippa United on Saturday.

“I want to speak to the fans because I’m not someone who runs away from my responsibility,” said Nabi. “I want to take this time to explain the situation to them and not necessarily give them excuses.

“It’s true that the results hurt them and also I’m the first person to be hurt. This is not a game they should use to judge their team or the potential of their team.

“This accident can happen anywhere in the world and it could even happen that the score is higher than what we have seen.”

Nabi added: “It’s not possible to be a good team three days ago and three days after we are a weak team, it’s not possible. And as I said we cannot always give excuses but I’m very understanding when it comes to my players.

“I understood that they gave their best the previous games and they were tired. I would like to ask you to be patient with the players as you have been in the happy times, do it in the difficult times.”
