Kaizer Chiefs received a massive boost on Thursday ahead of the much anticapted Betway Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns as Edmilson Dove has fully recovered from a long term injury.

Dove is avaivalable for selection for the first team this season as he had ruptured his Achilles tendon during Chiefs’ pre-season training camp in Turkey. The defender was forced to return to SA early to undergo surgery.

The 31-year-old is happy that that his unpleasant experience is now behind him and he is eager to make his return in Chiefs colours for the second half of the season.

“It hasn’t been an easy journey but, by the grace of God, I am running again,” said Dove. “I want to thank the doctors and express my gratitude to the Club for all the resources that were put at my disposal to help me recover as soon as possible.

“I also deeply appreciate the support from my teammates and the technical staff. It has really helped me a lot.”

With Chiefs set to take on Sundowns on Saturday at Atteridgeville in Tshwane at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium Dove, is unfazed by the challenge. The Soweto giants have faced Sundowsn twice this season, losing both games, 2-1 in the league and 4-0 in the Carling Knockout Cup quaterfinal.

“These are the types of games each and every player wants to be involved in. There is no need for any extra motivation. We are all excited. You can see it in the eyes of our players and the work they are putting in this week,” he added.
